A new space for international and prospective contemporary art: the Panorama is a project labeled Marseille-Provence European Capital of Culture and in operation since 2013. Its architecture, designed by Mathieu Poitevin, interweaves large reversible and modular exhibition platforms that encourage the design of large-scale exhibitions, with intermediate formats that are conducive to partnerships and invitations. A new space where the accessibility to the roof terrace is thought as a real public square, where the relationship to the city is also offered as a panorama.
The Panorama is an imposing exhibition hall, a white box overlooking the Jobin courtyard, opening onto a large terrace with the proportions of a public square and offering a panoramic view of the city of Marseille (475 m2 and 150 m2 of glass surface, with 9m high ceilings).
Its programs are based on a policy of artists' residencies that are part of a dynamic of local, national and international networks and that offer another artistic permanence to temporary exhibitions. It aims to offer a panorama of plural contemporary creation in several ways.
