Performed by an ensemble of young professional musicians, 'Rhetoric of the Wild' combines virtuosity, theatricality, gestures, rendered pronunciation and excerpts from the storybook 'Women Running with Wolves' by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
With Océane Deweirder, mezzo-soprano - Cibeles Bullon Muñoz and Alexandre Garnier, baroque violins - Suzanne Wolff, baroque cello - Gabrielle Resche, harpsichord
Between its magicians, its outraged characters and its raw feelings, baroque vocal music sometimes distills the wild side of Man into the sublime of a rhetorical art in its golden age. The awakening of powerful feelings pushes the character to ask for help from the invisible around him. It is then that the call to the elements, to the gods, to God or to the demons becomes a note, an ornament, a vocalization, a curve, a gesture. A wild incantation with a precise and delicious codification.
Baroque rhetorical tools mingle with this contemporary evocation of the link between Man and the Wild, for a most timeless celebration of the indomitable part of Man.
