Cultural and artistic events hosted by Jean-Gérard Bosio, cultural adviser and historian in the auditorium.
CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC ENCOUNTERS
"AROUND PIERRE SOLAGES & LEOPOLD SEDAR SENGHOR"
Friday 24 May 2024 at 6.30pm
At the Auditorium, 150 route des Serres
It was in 1956 that the poet Léopold Sedar Senghor, a future head of state, discovered a work by the painter Pierre Soulages. A few years later, after a meeting in his studio in 1961, the two ‘men of lessons’ forged a strong bond of friendship. Sharing their creations and publishing scholarly, poetic and artistic works, their cultural and poetic exchanges were punctuated by Georges Pompidou, a fellow student of Pierre Soulages in the khâgne.
Over the course of an evening, Jean-Gérard Bosio, who was chosen by President Georges Pompidou to become Lépold Sedar Senghor's cultural and diplomatic adviser, invites you to relive this unique friendship between the ‘president-poet’ of Senegal and the French ‘painter-architect’ of outrenoir.
