More than just a place to live, the bastide of Jas de Bouffan was a veritable laboratory where Cézanne experimented with his art for almost 40 years, between 1859 and 1899. Through an exceptional selection of some one hundred paintings, drawings and watercolors, this retrospective will plunge you into the artist's intimate world, revealing his deep connection with this family home.
Michel Fraisset is an expert on culture in Provence, whose career has been marked by a brilliant appreciation of art and heritage. This history and heritage enthusiast is the author of several books and numerous articles exploring the history of Provence and the work of Cézanne, making a valuable contribution to the knowledge and dissemination of these subjects.
He has also orchestrated a multitude of cultural events, from major exhibitions to renowned festivals, enriching the regional cultural landscape with his commitment and expertise. Director of the Atelier de Cézanne museum since 1997, he has been Director of the Aix-en-Provence Tourist Office since 2015.
