The City of Saint-Tropez is organising the first music and theatre festival "La Moutte entre en scène" from 20 to 24 August 2023. Five concerts and shows at moderate prices with renowned artists such as Philippe Caubère and Chimène Badi.
Who better than Chimène Badi to celebrate Edith Piaf 60 years after her death in 1963?
Chimène has so much in common with La Môme! A powerful voice that draws its emotion from the wounds that life has opened, a personality that is both strong and hypersensitive, a passion for beautiful words and melodies that stay in the head and heart.
"I "knew" Piaf when I was very young, very young, thanks to my mother. I think I was 3 or 4 years old when I got my first tape of Edith. There's something going on, I don't know what it is. I just know that she provokes something pretty crazy in me.
20 years into her career and Chimène is ready to cover the icon's cult repertoire.
"It's a project I've wanted to do for a long time but I've always waited for the right moment. I have the experience and greater confidence in myself, all strengths that give me the desire to finally pay tribute to the woman who guided me and taught me a lot. To sing Piaf is to take up a challenge... to immerse oneself in her lyrics, to understand the happiness and euphoria but also the suffering and sorrow. When I sing Édith, I don't know why, there's something that pierces me, that makes me go elsewhere. It's passionate!
In a theatrical setting, Chimène will perform the most iconic songs of Édith Piaf. A repertoire that has given French song its letters of nobility.
