In Five Versions of Don Juan, Josette Baïz summons one of the most striking characters in literature to create a unique work in five tableaux.
After 30 years at the helm of the Compagnie Grenade, choreographer Josette Baïz offers one last show with her adult dancers, before devoting herself exclusively to the young dancers of Grenade. Don Juan is at once a comedy, a tragedy, and a scandal. A great, unscrupulous seducer, Don Juan is neither moral nor sentimental; he is simply power-hungry. He certainly breaks the rules, but he is free and rebellious! Molière recounted the initiatory journey of a rebellious man who rejects established values. Josette Baïz offers five perspectives, five angles of attack to bring this complex character to dance. Classical, contemporary, and hip-hop dancers take turns finding the meaning of Don Juan's seduction, impetuosity, rebellion, and even madness.
