Belgian-Cameroonian performer, kora musician and composer Lubiana draws us into a fascinating universe of sounds from Africa, Europe and North America.
Her music is a skilful blend of pop songwriting and airy melodies. Crystal-clear timbres and organic sounds, seem to call and respond between blues and Afro-American gospel. At the heart of his songs are ancestral melodies derived from his incredible mastery of the kora, urban sounds and the afterglow of classical music. Her travels through Cameroon, Mali, Gambia and Senegal, and her experiences on the stages of London, Paris and Los Angeles, have nourished this globe-trotting artist. Throughout her album, we discover some of her sources of inspiration: Toumani Diabaté, the kora master heard on Mali, Lauryn Hill, Lianne la Havas, and the Franco-Rwandan artist Gaël Faye.
