Beautiful voices, accordion, costumes, dance, humour and good humour!
As part of the Provence en scène series of shows:
This show highlights the Marseillaise Operetta repertoire composed by René Sarvil, Vincent Scotto and Georges Sellers. The Opérette Marseillaise, warm and earthy, had its moment of glory between the wars, a sunny interlude of good humour in the grey and sinister greens of the Occupation. The operetta "Marseille mes amours" brings to life the everyday life of a city, and poetically depicts the ordinary life of simple people.
It is wholesomely popular, and even if its lyrics are falsely naive, it is an invitation to tolerance and respect for others. From the flower seller on the Cours Saint Louis offering her violets, to the lonely fisherman on his boat moored to the rocks of the Isles of Frioul, from the kind-hearted gangster to the love-struck midinette.... They all live together under the generous southern sun.
This repertoire is part of the Provençal heritage. The lyrics are often charming and poetic, full of good humour and very positive.
