‘Overview of the protected fauna of the Alpes-Maritimes’
Our department is home to more than two-thirds of France's fauna, including 260 protected species (excluding birds and marine species), which ranks it first nationally.
Who would have thought that many of these animals are endemic, including snails, squirrels, ocellated lizards and bats?
These animals deserve more than our respect, to the point that every square metre of construction is harmful to them!
