The wreck lies at a shallow depth (2m maximum) and has at least one complete half-hull from one end to the other: an exceptional state of preservation.
This cove is known to have yielded numerous ancient archaeological remains, including several wrecks, but this is the first from the modern era, dated by carbon 14 between 1450 and 1630.
Come and meet the archaeologists and (re)discover this exceptional heritage, which bears witness to the maritime cultural landscape of Martigues and, more broadly, this sector of the Mediterranean coastline.
This archaeological operation is co-directed by Aix-Marseille University and the Department of Underwater and Subaquatic Archaeological Research (Drassm-Ministry of Culture), as part of the MoMARCH international teaching programme.
