ENSEMBLE GAUGALIN
A female duo, the fruit of a musical encounter and a friendship.
At the crossroads of their two favourite worlds, traditional world music and early music, Christiane Ildevert (double bass, bendir and voice) and Hélène Richer (soprano) tell us stories filled with humanity.
It's a colourful journey weaving together tunes from Greece, Spain, Armenia, Italy, Bulgaria, the Middle East and France.
Spanish cantigas mingle with Sephardic songs and lullabies, while songs in French and Occitan reveal legendary and intimate stories, echoed in the 'Hô' cycle by contemporary composer G. Scelsi.
From the flowery repertoire of nature to that of love and the melancholy of exile, these tales of hope convey our deepest bonds in different languages.
To dance or hum with your eyes closed...
