The Musée de la Camargue's annual Ethnobistrot on the theme of Mary Magdalene in Provence.
Among Provencal saints, Mary Magdalene, associated with the Sainte Baume site, has been a popular figure on pilgrimage since the 5th century AD. The first Christians erected a shrine in the grotto, which the Provençal people adopted as a holy place and founder of their faith.
Estelle Rouquette, curator of the Musée de la Camargue, traces the history and place of Mary Magdalene in the Provençal pantheon, inviting Martine Guillot, head of the path, and Annelyse Chevalier, Félibrige major, to talk about their walk between Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and La Sainte Baume, in the footsteps of Mary Magdalene.
Dancer and choreographer Jean-Jacques Sanchez is also invited to present a performance from the Festivalines show, produced at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Sainte Baume by Compagnie Laza.
Registration required by February 6 by phone or e-mail.
