Discover Joanna Staniszkis' exhibition "Heavenly Sky" at the Old Saint-Laurent Church in Eygalières, from 15 to 12 May!
Invited by the Eygalières Town Hall, Joanna Staniszkis presents her monumental silk works.
Eighty-four years ago, on a cold January night, Jean Moulin landed in the Alpilles mountains near Eygalières.
The parachute that brought him to safety was made of silk. While paying tribute to this hero of the French Resistance, Joanna Staniszkis uses this event to remind us that intensive silk production in the south of France came to an end shortly after the Second World War.
Through her unique installations, the artist seeks to reveal the beauty of silk, this wonderful miracle of nature.
Opening on Saturday 18 April at 6pm
As part of this exhibition, Claude Ricard will give a lecture entitled ‘Silk in Provence’ on Friday 24 April at 6.15 pm at the Charles Galtier Media Library in Eygalières.
