Exhibition - Paintings by Naïke Diz

"My work with portraiture is currently in an exploratory phase. In my early series, the subject was the focal point: the face conveyed the essence of the portrait, while the background—sketched quickly—remained deliberately understated. The focus was then on the subject’s expression and presence. Now, I am moving toward an approach where the background takes on a more prominent role. Colors, textures, and movement have become elements that now contribute to the construction of the portrait. The face and the background respond to and complement each other, together forming the identity of the painting. This exploration is ongoing and allows me to discover new ways of bringing a presence to life." Naïke Diz
