Manon Pieyre de Mandiargues, in collaboration with Galerie Aline Vidal, welcomes Sigurður Árni Sigurðsson for the "Corrections" exhibition at the fourth edition of the Festival du Dessin.
The exhibition features drawings from the "Corrections" series, which explores the artist's passion for postcards and photos found at flea markets and second-hand shops during his travels abroad, mainly in France. Sigurður Árni Sigurðsson's "Corrections" exhibition features over 200 drawings. The artist corrects photos and postcards to release his creative energy, a method he compares to André Breton's automatic writing. The subject matter of "Corrections" is linked to the French cultural context, with images of newlyweds, Corsican types and transformed landscapes. Sigurður Árni frees photography from its limitations by extending it into drawing, erasing temporal and conceptual boundaries. The viewer is invited to question what belongs to the original image and what has been added, creating a new relationship where space and time fade away.
