As part of Les Suds, meet Fatoumata Diawara at the Théâtre Antique!
With her allure of a modern high priestess, this artist embodies the memory of West Africa's future. Establishing herself on the international scene as one of Mali's "Golden Voices" in the tradition of her elders (Rokia Traoré, Oumou Sangaré), she carries her ancestral heritage with conviction. Singing in Bambara on an orchestration that allows for musical connivances (from -M- to Herbie Hancock, Roberto Fonseca or Damon Albarn...), it is as a free artist that she has denounced social issues that were taboo until now.
This summer, she returns to us with a new, pared-down album, with an intimist accent, delivering with great sincerity her trials and tribulations as a woman, mother and daughter. Between betrayal and resilience, she shares her most personal experiences, celebrating the power of destiny and paying tribute to life!
