Photography and drawing: two mediums that, at first glance, seem to be polar opposites.
Whilst one involves the physicality of the gesture, the other focuses on the visual.
Yet drawing, through its connections with printing techniques such as screen printing, engraving, lithography and risography, comes significantly closer to the realm of photography.
Similarly, when photography also draws on traditional reproduction techniques, its renderings tend significantly towards drawing. These surprising shifts between photography and drawing, implied by the widespread use of these reproduction techniques today, will be discussed during this round table, which brings together a leading figure in engraving, Erik Desmazières, a renowned philosopher, Jean-Christophe Bailly, to discuss the lithographic work of Gilles Aillaud, and a young artist duo, Marie Hervé and Elsa Martinez.
