The MCM unveils the official poster for its next edition, to be held from March 30 to April 4, 2026. This creation is part of a sequence that began in 2024, conceived as a graphic narrative that unfolds and evolves from year to year. Illustrator Martin Carrese continues to stage his two protagonists. Carried along by their momentum, they embody both the determination and the growing role of women creators in the music and film industries.
In imagining this scene, the artist proposes an MCM in motion, anchored in the heart of Marseille and turned towards action. This choice echoes the dynamism of the Festival, which last year attracted over 31,000 spectators, presented 328 films and welcomed 1,000 accredited guests.
Once again this year, several flagship programs will punctuate the week, immersing audiences in the very heart of musical creation for the image.
After welcoming some of the biggest names in musical composition for the visual arts, such as Gabriel Yared, Bruno Coulais, Howard Shore, Ibrahim Maalouf, Rachel Portman, Stephen Warbeck, Jocelyn Pook and many others, the MCM continues its commitment by inviting artists whose work is making its mark on the international scene. The "Cartes blanches aux invités d'honneur" program - the names of which will be announced shortly - will enable us to discover the careers of renowned artists, while the "Accord en duo" program will bring together recognized tandems of composers and directors, invited to reveal their methods and the alchemy that presides over the creation of a soundtrack.
With Ils et elles repasseront par là, the festival will spotlight artists who have passed through its professionalization programs and are now pursuing international careers, while the Coup de Coeur program will offer a second look at powerful films that have received too little exposure.
Finally, the Short and Feature Film Competitions will present an international panorama of Europe's most inventive writing.
Festival venues :
The heart of the MCM will once again be beating at the Artplexe Canebière, which will host the bulk of screenings and public events.
But for the 2026 edition, the novelty lies in the closing ceremony, which will be held at La Criée.
The program will also take in a number of emblematic cultural venues in Marseilles, including the Conservatoire Pierre Barbizet de Marseille - a Campus art Méditerranée establishment, the Alcazar library, Les Variétés cinema, Videodrome 2, the Mucem and many other local cultural partners.
