Opera under the stars: Duo Hoza
Chani Bauza, mezzo-soprano and Pascal Hoyer, classical guitar
Programme: Monteverdi, Purcell and Handel
In this chamber music recital, in the atmosphere of the salons of the time, Duo Hoza explores the links between Italy and England through the history of arias as a representative genre, between the madrigal and the opera and with three leading composers of the baroque period.
From the origin of this style with Claudio Monteverdi to the end of the period with Georg Friedrich Handel and the most famous English composer of the time: Henry Purcell.
By interpreting several arias of the same character, we follow the way in which the composers develop their feelings through a stripped-down musical structure.
We travel from Italy and the first opera arias to England, through the links between nature and love, following the evolution of opera arias from one country to another and from one century to the next.
