Dénia Ridley is an American jazz singer who gracefully interprets the standards of the Great American Songbook with a dynamic and elegant style that reminds us of her musical idols: the great Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, and Dinah Washington
Ms. Ridley has toured Europe extensively, having performed at the Madrid Jazz Festival; Jazz à Domergue in Cannes; the Nice JazzOff; Jazz à Najac in the south of France; and La Note Bleue Jazz Festival in Monaco.
Dénia has recently toured Italy where she participated in the "International Jazz Music Festival" in Lucca; the "MusiCuvia" festival in the Lake Maggiore region; and the "Blues in Villa" festival in the province of Pordenone, northern Italy.
As well as singing in Montecatini Terme for the Tuscan town's inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list, Denia had the honour of performing at the "International Jazz Day 2022" for the opening night of the "Jazz Alguér" festival in Sardinia.
Over the years, she has had the opportunity to sing with a variety of incredibly talented international artists such as the remarkable Italian musicians Dado Moroni, Aldo Zunino, and Michele Bozza; American guitarist Art Johnson who performed with Lena Horne for many years; and Dutch double bassist Jack Sewing who played with world-renowned violinist Stéphane Grappelli for over two decades.
At the "Théâtre Lino Ventura" in Nice, the Dénia Ridley Trio opened the concert of one of the relatively new young stars of the jazz scene, and winner of three Grammys, Ms Cécile McLorin-Salvant. Kurt Elling, during his evening at the illustrious "Opéra de Nice".
Dénia had the privilege of being featured at "MadaJazzCar", the acclaimed music festival where international guest artists like her are not only invited to perform in the Malagasy capital with professional Malagasy jazz combos, but also to participate in various "late night" jam sessions, and conduct master classes during the day for emerging young talent.
* This summer, Dénia has the honour of being invited to be the Godmother of the 20th edition of "Swing in the Mountains", a music festival based in the spa town of Le Monêtier-les-Bains, the highest village of Serre Chevalier, the famous ski resort in the French Alps.
