The Christian feast of midsummer fires has replaced ancient summer solstice ceremonies, during which the lights were on in a purifying purpose.Nowadays, this festival has become a large gathering. On lit more fire to the gods or to formulate wishes, but simply for the pleasure to meet and have fun.To celebrate in the rules of art, folk group Li Coudelet Dansaire acceded to Maintenance, the association that deals with the journey of the flame from Mount Canigou.With regard to the festivities, the evening begins with a procession with torches between the Town Hall and the market, and continues with a dance (Provençal bal). As soon as the first dances, a huge bundle of wood is inflamed. It consists of various species and is surrounded by a Ribbon in the colours of the commune.Of small logs are also put up for sale to enable viewers to affix their own vows, before launching into the flames. For a few minutes, small bundles are resistant flame before igniting in a whirlwind of sparks. Finally, the time comes to jump lights to make her wishes come true!According to tradition, for the young lovers wishing to be married in the year, this jump will be a sign of fertility and happiness...
