The Briançon Alpine Club, in collaboration with Parc national des Ecrins, Refuges sentinelles and the NSE network, is offering a program of activities in refuges focusing on the mountain environment and sustainable management in refuges.
>> THEME N°1 : sensitization to the discovery of the mountain environment around the refuges. You will be able to discover different facets of the mountain environment in the immediate vicinity of the refuge. Thus, you will for example
- observe birds of prey, salamanders, marmots,
- recognize the edible plants of the middle mountain,
- understand the retreat of the glacier fronts,
- participate in a participatory science experiment on biodiversity,
- understand how the landscape was formed around the refuge,
- discover the history of the place.
>> THEME N°2 : awareness of the sustainable management of the refuges : energy, water, food, waste, transport... You will discover the strategies implemented by the refuges to offer you food and shelter while respecting the environment. For example, you will discover/understand :
- the production of electricity in the refuge,
- the supply of food/non-food items,
- the origin/flow of water,
- waste management,
- obtaining hot water.
>> In the evening: A card game and/or quiz will be proposed as an animation or in case of bad weather.
>> A treasure hunt: which will consist in looking for clues around the refuge with the help of a map.
The animations will be based on a 30 to 45 minutes course. They will be proposed by 2 young people of the Alpine Club of Briançon.
How to participate? These activities are free and accessible to all. No registration is necessary to participate. You only need to be present at the refuge during these days to participate.
If you wish to go up to the refuge for the night, don't forget to reserve with the refuge keeper.
