From Saturday February 7 to Sunday June 14, 2026, Cannes Town Hall presents the exhibition "Gilles Miquelis, des mondes flottants" at the Suquet des artistes, dedicated to a painter whose work explores the relationship with time.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier, Gilles Miquelis has developed a practice of oil painting marked by a rapid, precise and controlled gesture. He conceives his works as snapshots, seeking to fix an impression before it disappears. Painting thus becomes a means of retaining what is ephemeral.
Time is central to his work. The artist makes no attempt to situate his scenes in an identifiable era. This approach guides the whole of his work, and is one of the major threads running through the exhibition.
