Jardin du Lautaret, Lautaret, 05220 Le Monêtier-les-Bains
Discover the 2000 species of alpine flowers in our collection, from all over the world.
The Lautaret garden is one of the most beautiful in Europe! In an incredible setting, discover 2,000 species of high altitude plants, presented by geographical origin, habitat, botanical classification and medicinal, toxic or food properties. Each step takes you to a new continent, in this botanical and dreamlike world tour. Surrounded by 360° views of the mountains, you'll wander between streams, pontoons, ponds, recreated environments, natural meadows, a historic chalet, century-old trees, a bird kiosk... All the way to a unique view of the Meije, reflected in the water of a small pond with flourishing surroundings.
As well as guided tours of the botanical garden, there are numerous events scheduled throughout the summer. Open-air concerts, storytelling walks, botanical watercolour courses, photography courses, workshops, meetings, lectures and behind-the-scenes scientific tours
The Lautaret garden is a hotbed of science. Let us tell you all about it in the museum area and by following the "discovery and science" signs scattered around the garden. The questions raised by the scientific experiments carried out at Le Lautaret on biodiversity, glacier evolution, the greening of the Alps, changes in climate and practices, and the impact on different mountain ecosystems, will no longer hold any secrets for you.
