Inauguration of the garden monument created by Emma Bourgin and Léonard Nguyen Van Thé.The inauguration will be followed by a botanical-poetic buffet and a video projection on the Place de Nice in the presence of the artists.
The work is produced by the "Mondes nouveaux" programme run by the Ministry of Culture as part of France Relance, in collaboration with the Centre des monuments nationaux.
The work: Hommage à la Roya is a monument-garden made of local, travelling stones, designed for the Roya valley. Each of the 3 sculptures is partially covered with its bronze imprint, the ghost of the beeswax that cured them from the bumps of the earth, which moves and blossoms again thanks to the plants that grow on them and at their feet.
The artists: Emma Bourgin is a visual artist. A graduate of ÉSAM in Caen, she came into contact with her favourite material, beeswax, which she sees as a second skin allowing her to rub shoulders with the flesh of the world.
the world. The material, its desires, mood swings and contradictions fascinate her. Together with landscape gardener Léonard Nguyen Van Thé, they combine exhibitions and gardens, with the aim of caring for places whose materials, both living and inert, tell the story of her work.
inert materials tell their own stories. Léonard is a gardener, trained at the horticultural schools of Le Breuil and Montreuil. Focusing his research on nurturing park systems through subversive gardening, he has become a guerrilla gardener and urban griculturist, working on neglected and complex territories. His knowledge of plants and gardening techniques is used as a militant tool.
