A chance to (re)discover the importance of cycling in the CCB area.
As part of the national "Bike May" campaign, the Communauté de Communes du Briançonnais is organising an afternoon devoted to cycling. An event promoting soft mobility in the presence of local players and invited guests.
Programme:
All events are free of charge.
In the event of bad weather, the events and round table will be held indoors. The walks will be cancelled. Stay informed!

10:30: Stade Bouchié Giraudo - Briançon (former rugby stadium) - Inauguration of the Avenue Jean Moulin and its cycle path,
Departure of a mountain bike ride accompanied by instructors, along the Via Guisane to the Parc des Colombiers
At 12 noon : Information stands

- Mountain bike professions
- Bike shops with presentations and equipment trials
- The Serre Che United Riders (SCUR) and Briançon Serre Chevalier Cyclisme (BSCC) clubs

- The Mobicoop shared mobility and Rezo Pouce organised hitchhiking services
From 1pm to 5pm
Continuous entertainment, no registration required, free access :
- Draisiennes workshop: educational workshops with an instructor for the little ones, with routes and games. Equipment provided. 30-minute sessions
- Pumptrack - BMX: introduction and demonstration, with an instructor specialising in the discipline. Equipment provided
- Road safety awareness organised by the Briançon Municipal Police: use of the road track, awareness of the various road safety rules and the basics of road signs. From 10 years upwards
- Bike repair workshops: discover the mechanics of a bike by taking it apart with others
- Bike-rigolos: try out mini bikes, vel'envers, vélo girafe, Grand Bi...
- Escape game soft mobility in the mountains: come and enjoy an escape game adventure as a team to take on challenges and solve riddles about soft mobility. Open to all, in teams of around 5 people. 20-30 minutes.
- Carto vélo: cyclists of today and tomorrow, have your say! Participatory mapping workshop for a cycling-friendly region for all. Participants will be able to find out about existing cycling facilities and infrastructure, and provide feedback on how to improve cycling in our region.
- Treasure hunt: go in search of spare parts for our favourite mascot. Each part of a bike will be accompanied by a question and a challenge. From 4 years upwards.
Supervised outings on electric bikes, registration required
- Approximately 1h30 outing on an electrically-assisted bike (mountain bike or other).
- Free loan of equipment (bikes provided by bike shops).
- Beginner level (introductory, easy rides and routes) or intermediate level.
Departures at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
From age 12.
- Places are limited. Mandatory online registration (information on 04 92 21 35 97)
From 5pm to 6pm
Round-table discussion "The Briançonnais "Land of Cycling", current situation & prospects..."
The Briançonnais is already a cycling area, with extensive mountain biking, major mountain passes and international events (Tour de France, La Haute Route, etc.). The emergence of cycling as a way of getting around on a daily basis is palpable, with developments underway. How can we strengthen this culture of cycling? How can we improve visitor facilities for cycling?
With the participation of Anaïs Degache, a doctoral student in sociology at Aix-Marseille University, whose thesis aims to understand what makes it possible, or not, to 'make the transition' in terms of mobility, and whose main field of study is the Hautes-Alpes; Yvan Chaix, Director of the Hautes-Alpes Departmental Agency for Economic and Tourist Development (ADDET);Marc Fligny, a cyclist from Briançon, host of the Vélo en Briançonnais Facebook page, bike enthusiast and cyclotafeur;Bastien Rolland, a cyclist from Briançon, President of the Sprinter Club Briançon (SC Briançon), a cycling club affiliated to the FFC, competes in mountain biking, road cycling and cyclo-cross.
Followed by a discussion with members of the public and a complimentary aperitif

- The Médiathèque du 15/9 is offering themed tables on cycling during the month of May.
- The Eden studio cinema is screening the film Les Roues De L'Avenir on Friday 24 May at 8.30pm, a highly inspiring documentary on everyday cycling.
- L'Atelier cyclonique is offering two complementary events on 1 June:
A bike-ornithology walk with the LPO at 8.45am at Chantemerle
A concert / meal at the Atelier cyclonique venue at the end of the day.
