The European Heritage Days are a highlight of the European Capital of Culture year. For one weekend in September, discover the research, exploratory and writing work completed by local residents and organisations. All events are free of charge, and include walks, visits of heritage sites, unique programmes in cultural venues and much more.
The Council of Europe launched the European Heritage Days in 1991, and the event now takes place in some 50 countries. It is an opportunity to showcase the different regions that have launched initiatives showcasing cultural heritage by signing the principles of the Faro Convention. In Marseille, this means the 15th and 16th arrondissements, the 2nd and 3rd arrondissements, the 13th and 14th arrondissements and Vitrolles.
