The cathedral site, on Nice's Château hill, was the fruit of several excavation campaigns from the 19th century to the present day.
Since 2015, excavations have focused on the funerary space, providing a wealth of information on the evolution of funerary practices in the medieval period, as well as on the external layout of the religious building.
