Sophie DE BAERE - Behind house doors
Sophie de Baere is a novelist with degrees in literature and philosophy. After her acclaimed 2018 debut novel, La Dérobée, in which a woman's life is turned upside down by the revelation of a buried past, she continued her exploration of family ties and their flaws with Les Corps conjugaux, then enjoyed widespread success with Les Ailes collées, which won the Maison de la Presse 2022 prize and was adapted for television in 2025.
She then published Le Secret des mères, a novel that reveals the power of transgenerational inheritance (Prix Relay, Prix Exbrayat, Prix des lecteurs du Var, Prix des lecteurs de la ville de Brive...). The novel is currently being adapted for the cinema.
Derrière les portes des maisons: in her novels, Sophie de Baere explores what families conceal: hidden loves, old faults, painful loyalties.
Pushing open the doors of the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, she will tell us how these family secrets are born, why they survive the generations and how literature can, between modesty and impudence, transform them into stories that speak to all.
The evening includes :
- champagne reception on the Villa patio
- themed conference
- dinner at Restaurant Béatrice, prepared by our chef Myriam Barda (*wine and dine pairing and a flute of champagne)
