Irénée is a modest grocery boy working in his uncle's store on the outskirts of Marseille. He's convinced he was born with a gift, and dreams of becoming a movie star.
A team of Parisian filmmakers passing by for location scouting, amused by the pretensions of this "Schpountz", signed him a false acting contract. Swelling with pride and deaf to the warnings of those close to him, Irénée took the paper in his pocket, went up to Paris and presented himself to the studios. A family comedy with a cult following, Irénée is a vibrant tribute to laughter, bringing the smiles and tears audiences need to live.
They thought they were playing a joke on a madman, but what they got was a Schpountz like no other.
