Alone on stage, like a lecturer, Carole Thibaut, director of the CDN of Montluçon, takes us on a personal and political journey, between working-class memory and intimate story.
She traces the history of her family, that of three generations of men linked to the Longwy steelworks, and through them, that of an entire steelmaking region marked by the social struggles of the 1970s and 1980s.
Born in this industrial region of Lorraine, she traces her childhood memories, between demonstrations, independent radio stations, and blast furnaces, to question the place of girls in a man's world, the transmission of a cultural and emotional heritage, and the unspoken aspects of family history. Driven by direct, sensitive, and powerful words, the show traverses the ruins of industry to bring to light a female voice long left on the margins: that of a "daughter of industry," a witness to hopes, struggles, and silences. Longwy-Texas is the first installment in a long-running series, Les Filles de l’Industrie (The Daughters of Industry), that Carole Thibaut has been developing since 2016. A poignant tale, somewhere between documentary and autobiographical fiction, that brings history to life through the story of a woman.
