This concert is a carte blanche to George Benjamin as part of the portrait dedicated to him: here is an opportunity to recall his taste for Ravel's music, piano, and voice, as well as the esteemed friendship that links him to another great contemporary composer: Hans Abrahamsen.
It is also an opportunity for him to showcase – whether at the music stand or at the piano – the musicians of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, which regularly creates his works and is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year.
