Christmas Highlights in Martigues.
December 11-24: Christmas Market.
Open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except December 12, 15, and 16, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (closing at 5:00 PM on December 24).
Friday, December 12, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Countdown and lighting ceremony by the Mayor. Fireworks display, Santa Claus, distribution of treats and other surprises. Place de la Libération.
December 12-26: Decorated and animated kiosks, open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM (non-stop). Place de la Libération.
Saturday, December 13, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM: Santa Claus arrives by boat. Quai Tessé, between the blue bridges.
Saturday, December 13, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Urban hike, Illuminated Martigues (registration required at the Tourist Office).
Saturday, December 13, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Laser show on the Cours du 4 Septembre. Meet in front of the La Cascade cinema.
In case of bad weather, the show may be postponed to the following day, December 14, at 6:00 PM.
Sunday, December 14th, from 5pm to 6:30pm: Grand Toy Parade. Starting from Quai G. Leclerc.
Saturday, December 20, at 6:00 PM: Fireworks display launched from the Jardin de la Rode. In case of bad weather, the show may be postponed to December 21 at 6:00 PM.
Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21: Christmas video mapping from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (non-stop projection). Quai Brescon, Miroir aux Oiseaux.
Saturday, December 27, at 6:00 PM: Light drone show. A 12-minute spectacle with over 200 drones in the Martigues sky. In case of bad weather, the show may be postponed to January 3 at 6:00 PM.
The parades:
- December 13, 20, and 21, starting at 2 p.m.: Mascot parade featuring cartoon characters. A different cartoon character each day. Place Jean Jaurès. Several parades throughout the afternoon.
- Sunday, December 14, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Grand Christmas parade with music and a toy theme. Starting from the Jonquières district, Quai Général Leclerc. More than twenty characters (Santa Claus, The Grinch, Mario Bros., Labubu, etc.).
- Saturday, December 20, starting at 2 p.m.: Prince and princess parade. Jonquières town center.
- Sunday, December 21, starting at 2 p.m.: Mascot parade. Jonquières town center.
- Tuesday, December 23rd from 2pm to 6pm: Musical stroll with the group MACADAM (Christmas and festive songs).
Children's activities:
- December 13, 14, 17 and December 20-28, from 2 pm to 6 pm: Pony rides departing from Rue Ramade.
- December 13, 14, 17 and December 20-24, from 3 pm to 6 pm: Photos with Santa Claus in Place de la Libération.
- December 13, 14, 17 and December 20-24, from 2 pm to 6 pm: Face painting booth in Place Jean Jaurès.
- December 13, 14, 17 and December 20-28, from 2 pm to 6 pm: Wooden games, various games, and mini-golf in the streets of Martigues (Rue Ramade, Rue Lamartine, Place de la Libération, and Place Jean Jaurès). - December 13th and 14th, then from December 20th to 24th, from 2 pm to 6 pm: Horse-drawn carriage rides departing from Place des Aires.
