Through the lives of Geneviève de Gaulle, Mila Racine and Lucie Aubrac, this theatrical project focuses on the invisible role played by women in the Resistance, and retraces the decisive fight these heroines waged against Nazism between 1940 and 1944.
Often evoked through a few symbolic or heroic images, women nevertheless embodied an essential commitment: liaison agents, activists, rescuers, organizers of clandestine networks, they played an active part in the internal and external struggle against the occupying forces. By following their paths, the show reveals another story of the Resistance: that of an emancipation that was also played out against the male domination of French society at the time.
Conceived as a collective experience combining historical narration, sound archives, stage performance and audience participation, Les Résistantes aims to bring out a narrative where individual history meets collective memory, while revealing the founding values that drove these women: justice, democracy and human dignity.
