Symbol of Arles en Fête: the whole town takes part in this passo carriero (parade) in costume which ends in the Arènes for a grand finale. Families, groups, young and old, all await this moment where the soul of Arles is found.
Gardians, traditional groups from the city and elsewhere, children, ... nearly a thousand costumes and all of Arles in the street for this exceptional evening. The best and most beautiful evening to really get to know the city. Texts attest to the practice as early as 1830, but the Pegoulado, spontaneous or not, is probably much earlier. For festive, political or other reasons (passage of the railway, inauguration of the Trinquetaille Bridge), the population went out into the street and strolled around.
Departure from Boulevard Clémenceau towards Boulevard Victor Hugo as far as the Luma Arles Foundation. Then back to the Boulevard des Lices, towards the Place de la République where the traditional groups gather. The 23rd and 24th reigns will then appear on the balcony. The evening will end with a great farandole under the light of lanterns.
