The Magdeburg Puppet Theatre is a stronghold of world puppetry. In 2019, he received the National Theatre Prize, awarded by the German Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), as well as the Cultural Youth Prize of the Land of Saxony-Anhalt. It also organizes the international puppet festival «Blickweschsel» every two years. RE-MEMBER Ensemble is the result of a collaboration between Élise Vigneron of the Entrouvert Theatre and Julika Mayer, both puppeteers and directors. Nourished by the writings of contemporary thinkers such as Vinciane Despret, Donna Haraway, Anna Tsing, Tim Ingold, the play questions through the prism of the puppeteer’s practice our relationship to the world of the living and the nonliving. The crowd of puppets from the collection of the Magdeburg Puppet Theatre, and the five puppeteers are invited to a great festival of the dead and the living, a ritual that is both primitive and contemporary. Together they speak to us about our common existence, and the connection between the human and the organic world. An ode to nature and life.
