A dance of resistance and hope

Sous le Volcan is a dance ceremony in which five performers work together to explore the upheavals of our contemporary world. The show questions our ability to act as one in the face of ecological, social and political upheaval. In an infinite dance of unison and singularity, fury and tenderness, the bodies come together, collide and unite in a quest for cooperation and transformation.

Inspired by rites and rituals, Sous le Volcan celebrates metamorphosis and community. In the course of a secret ceremony, the five beings will have to plunge deep into their inner worlds, into those intimate spaces that are dimly lit. The perpetual movement of the dancers, the power of the percussion, the changing costumes and the sculpted lighting in volcanic hues create a vibrant universe, between chaos and harmony.

Sous le Volcan is a dance of resistance and hope. It is a call to solidarity, to listening and to reinventing our links with others and with nature, as a final attempt to honour the beauty of living things.
