The Southern Alps are a melting pot for strong, deep-rooted, living cultures. Inhabited since the dawn of time, these mountains that "bathe their feet in the sea" are a place of permanent passage and exchange, a land of high civilisation. Polyphonic singing is one of the riches of this proud, contemporary and authentic heritage.
Corou de Berra is a traditional mixed polyphonic choir founded in 1986. After more than thirty years of activity, hundreds of concerts, 13 CDs and numerous creations, the Corou de Berra has become the benchmark for Alpine polyphonic singing.
Corou de Berra's repertoire is constantly evolving, as befits a living tradition. It ranges from traditional Mediterranean Alpine song in its purest expression to the most unexpected contemporary creations. Music that never stands still, performed with all the vivacity required by singers in full possession of their culture and their art.
"The Corou de Berra's career is unique because, starting with the traditional repertoire, it succeeds in developing a creativity that is fully contemporary". Sandro Gastinelli, film-maker.
"For the past twenty years, Michel Bianco and the Corou de Berra have been building an impressionist, lively and creative musical universe, with a complex, refined and sensitive harmonic architecture. Their work combines raw energy with feminine, diaphanous subtlety. An art form that is accomplished yet temporary, ephemeral yet eternal". ...World Central
