To mark the 35th anniversary of the inauguration of Espace Comedia!
Exactly 35 years ago, Espace Comédia inaugurated its first show - the first in a long series that now numbers over 700 - with "Ubu" by Compagnie Nada Théâtre Paris. So it seemed fitting, 35 years later, to celebrate this anniversary with the same work, performed by a new company and new actors, as a nod to the passing of time, watching the texts, the actors and the theater spin through the ages with the same sacred fire ...
In this audacious five-actor adaptation of Alfred Jarry's play "Ubu Roi", the patently unemployed father and mother Ubu tear each other apart in their kitchen, where there's nothing left to eat. A journalist from Niouze comes to film them and decides to help them realize the only idea that could save them from their decrepitude: becoming presidents! This is the story of Father Ubu's risible and terrifying ascent to the Presidential Palace. The juxtaposition of Jarry's grotesque, satirical extravagances with current events and political figures highlights the parallels between Père Ubu's absurd reign and today's political realities. Laughter mingles with social criticism, encouraging reflection on contemporary global issues while rediscovering a classic of French literature.
