Turn video games into a profession. This is what the Var department is proposing with the Var Gaming Festival, a forum on video game-related professions and training in the Var.
The Var Gaming Festival takes place over 3 days (January 30-February 1), but January 30 is reserved for middle-school students, with discussions and mini-conferences on careers in the video game industry. At the end of the day, the 2nd Global Game Jam,
an international event in which teams compete and have 48 hours to create a video game.
On January 31, the general public is invited to discover the region's training opportunities.
Finally, on Sunday February 1, participating teams present their creations in the afternoon, with the winner chosen by a jury of professionals.

Saturday, January 31 program (subject to change)
> 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all day: presentation of professions and career paths, with a number of schools taking part: ISEN (Toulon), Université de Toulon, CNAM Paca, Brassart, École de Condé, E-ARTsup (Nice/Marseille), ISART Digital Nice, Université de Nice.
Demonstrations of games from previous Global Game Jam events, and entertainment around the Fortnite project for the Université de Toulon.
Other presentations: Handi Gamers, Women In Games France, TVT/French Tech Var.

> 9:30am to 10:10am: Round table on "Development potential of the independent video game industry in the region, and more specifically in the Var", moderated by Didier Goguenheim (Director, Toulon Var Technologies).
Participation by Laetitia Quilici (Vice-President of the Département), Thomas Demachy (Sud Anim), Olivia Papini (founder of La Méduse Violette).

> 9.45am to 10.45am: Conference on "Professions in the video game industry", led by Karim Adouane (Vice President of Toulon University).
Participation by Astrid Beyer (H3D - Women In Game representative), Christian Nasr (Lead Dev UBISOFT), Sebastien Leveque (National XP school director).

> 11:00 am to 11:20 am: Testimony of Christian Nasr, Lead Game Programmer at Ubisoft Montpellier.

> 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Conference on "The development of E-Sports", hosted by Frédéric Zolfanelli (gaming/host e-Sport host).
Eliot Pyrit (Cicadas), Sébastien Leveque (XP school National Director), and Siphano (Youtubeur, video game enthusiast) will take part.

> From 1.50pm to 2.10pm: Testimony by David Combarieu, President of the Handi Gamers association.

> 2.20pm to 3.10pm: Round table on "Legal aspects of video games and AI (copyright, regulatory watch)", moderated by Stéphane Bouisson (Conseil départemental du Var).
Participation (to be confirmed) of Mickael Bardin (lecturer in public law at Toulon University) and a lawyer specializing in artificial intelligence.

> 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: Conference "Mutation and challenges for the video game industry: future prospects and the impact of AI".
Participation of Marie-Lou Dulac (President of Women In Game), Emmanuel Forsans (General Manager of the French Video Game Agency).

> 3.40pm to 4pm: Testimony by Naja Dalmagne, Sandfall Interactive, Clair obscur: Expedition 33

> 4.15pm to 5pm: Masterclass by Aleksi Briclot, artistic director of Remember Me.
