Fun workshop for children on harvesting chestnuts, led by Sophie, a chestnut grower from Collobrières.
Like real chestnut growers, with their little "Saquet" around their waists, the children will be harvesting chestnuts.
After picking, they'll have to sort them, especially if they want to make good jam! This will be an opportunity to see the parasites, the animals that love our fruit, the marks...
What's the difference between chestnuts and marrons? How old are the trees? How do you grow new chestnut trees?
Children will get the answers to all these questions and learn how to count the rings to find out the age of the trees using a small slice of wood.
And to round off the harvest, a "castagnade" around a log fire, roasted chestnuts and a taste of our chestnut cream!
