1. Take the bridge just above the car park. Continue on the road for about 100 metres before taking an upward sloping farm track on the left, at the entrance to the field. Follow the signs for "Les Brès". The track gradually rises through the fields before joining the tarmac road at the hamlet of "Les Carles". Cross the hamlet and continue on the road, direction "Les Brès", due east for about 1 km. Pass under the hamlet of "Les Brès" without entering it
2. Shortly after the hamlet, turn left on a stony track and follow the direction of Serre-l'Eyglier. Enter the hamlet on the track. At the intersection with the tarmac road, turn right to the crow's feet, then right again onto a small road. Continue on this road for about 300m
3. Then, leave the road and take an ascending path on the left, still in the direction of Serre l'Eyglier. Start a nice climb on a wooded path. Take advantage of the windows on the Piolit chain at Chabrières. The path eventually leads to a forest track
4. Cross it and continue on the path that climbs just opposite. Pass under the commune's drinking water supply, to find the forest track again.
5. Continue to climb on this track until you reach the next hairpin. At the hairpin, leave the track and take the path that goes straight on. To do this, go through the barrier. The ascent continues in the mélèzin on a pretty path and offers views of the caturige basin and the Serre-Ponçon lake. Find the track at the Forêt du Suret
6. Take the track to the left, due west, and cross the Bâtie-Neuve communal forest. Gradually the landscape opens up thanks to the grazed fields. This part of the route is common to the GR 50.
7. Once you reach the crossroads, continue along the track to the west, in the direction of the take-off area dedicated to free flight. Pass in front of the DFCI tank and continue straight on for 500 m to reach the take-off area and admire one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Avance Valley. Retrace your steps to the crossroads. Take the downhill track on the right. About 700m further on, leave the track and take the path that plunges into the ravine on the right. Cross the track and plunge back onto the path which passes under the local water supply
8. When the path rejoins the track, take it on the right, going downhill. The path gradually leaves the forest to return to pasture areas. Pass the "Clots" farms and continue downhill on the track which soon becomes a tarmac road. Do not take the road on the right leading to the hamlet of Irels, but continue on the descending road on the left
9. At a crossroads, take the rising road on the right towards the Sapet forest. Cross the hamlet of "Les Granes" and go through a gate to enter the Sapet forest
10. At the last forest intersection, turn left to go down as close as possible to the Saint-Pancrace torrent. Pass the picnic area and go up the left bank to find the starting trail. Take it in the opposite direction to find the car park.
