Departure and recommended parking: car park of the old railway station
1. At the end of the car park, take the direction of Gap/Briançon on the left, on the tarmac road. Pass under the bridge of the national road following the direction of Briançon, then 100 metres further on, fork left and pass under the railway line to find the track. Take it on the right, and walk along the railway line towards Le Moulin. The Charance ridge and Napoleon's hat gradually come into view. 1. At the end of the car park, take the direction of Gap/Briançon on the left, on the tarmac road. Pass under the bridge of the national road following the direction of Briançon, then 100 metres further on, fork left and pass under the railway line to find the track. Take it on the right, and walk along the railway line towards Le Moulin. The Charance ridge and Napoleon's hat gradually come into view. At a crossroads, turn left at the red-roofed house and cross the Luye to reach the place called "Le Moulin"
2. At the latter, follow the path that climbs to the left, this path probably follows the "Via Cottia per alpem", an ancient Roman road. The path goes along hedges, across fields. Continue through the undergrowth to Pré Bellot
3. From there, head towards La Bâtie-Neuve, by the track on the left. Take the time to admire the main peaks of the region in turn: the Piolit (2,464 m), the Aiguilles de Chabrières (2,403 m) and the Grand Morgon (2,324 m). Once you arrive at the Paris farm, continue straight on, keeping the direction of La Bâtie-Neuve
4. Join the national road. Do not cross it, but continue straight on for 200 metres towards Tallard. Leave the tarmac road in favour of a track which runs due east on the left along a hedge. Follow this track across the fields which then leads to cross the main road via the tunnel. Follow the road in the opposite direction for 400 metres to cross the railway. Finally, enter the village of La Bâtie-Neuve and join the starting point, on the left opposite the school.
