A crossing of the Pays des Ecrins from North to South, on the route of the emblematic Grande Traversée des Hautes-Alpes
Starting from Briançon station, which can be reached by train with your bike in a carriage from Argentière-la Bessée (ask at the station), the route quickly joins the markings of the Grande Traversée des Hautes-Alpes (GTHA) and the Grand Tour des Ecrins (GTE), which it follows almost to the end of the route.
After the station of Briançon, the GTHA/GTE trace is found on the D35, after crossing the N94
The first stage ends in the village of Les Vigneaux, after the descent from the hamlet of Bouchier
After an excursion in the Fournel valley, the route climbs to the Col des Lauzes, a major viewpoint on the Tête de Gaulent
Arriving at the village of Freissinières, go up to the Cabane du Parc on the right bank of the Biaysse, then branch off towards Champcella
The path leaves the GTHA/GTE above Champcella, which must be reached. Pass near the Gourfouran abyss, then the Roche-de-Rame and finally l'Argentière-la-Bessée
