At the bend in a gentle slope of vines, the pink stone walls and old tiles of the bastide and farm buildings are bathed in the light so dear to Cézanne. Château Coussin is a very old winegrowing estate located on the terroir of Mont Sainte-Victoire, whose vineyards are considered to be among the finest in France. Once crossed by the Via Aurelia, which led all the way to Rome, it was already famous when the legions of Roman general Marius stopped the barbarian invaders here in 102 BC.
