Heritage and monuments
The small town of Castellane is renowned for its heritage. The historic centre of Castellane attracts visitors with its lively streets, old houses, shops and restaurants.
Built in the Middle Ages, the Chapelle Notre Dame-du-Roc overlooks the town of Castellane and the Verdon valley from its vertiginous rocky promontory. The present building was rebuilt in the 19th century in a sober and elegant architectural style. The chapel can be reached on foot from the centre of Castellane, after a walk of about 30 minutes. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and justifies the effort to reach the Notre Dame du Roc chapel.
7 kilometres south of Castellane, in the hamlet of Robion, you can also admire the Chapelle Saint-Thyrse de Robion.
