A remarkable rural heritage

The village of Niozelles is situated in the Durance Valley, between the towns of Manosque and Sisteron.

The Notre-Dame de Ganagobie Abbey presents a magnificent example of Romanesque architecture in Provence. The church of this Benedictine monastery can be visited outside of religious service hours. Taking a walk on the Ganagobie plateau allows you to explore the ruins of the medieval village of Villevieille.

Sisteron was built around a rocky promontory that guards access to the Durance Valley. A powerful citadel was constructed in this location and continues to awe visitors who enter its gates.

You can also visit Manosque, located to the south of Niozelles. We recommend strolling through the streets of the historic center and paying a visit to the Jean Giono Center, dedicated to the famous regionalist writer.

The Luberon Regional Nature Park

Established in the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Vaucluse, the Luberon Regional Nature Park offers a great diversity of landscapes, natural areas, between vineyards and forests, medieval villages and isolated sheepfolds, plateaus, valleys and hills … As you walk through the Park, you can admire more than 270 different species of vertebrates. In particular, you will be able to see Bonelli’s eagle, a discreet and particularly rare bird of prey. Bicycle lovers can discover the Luberon on the natural side by taking the Voie Verte du Calavon (Green Way of Calavon). From Robion to Castellet, this 37-kilometre cycle path follows the route of an old railway line.

Among the destinations, don’t miss the villages of Ansouis, Ménerbes, Gordes, Roussillon and Lourmarin, all labelled as the most beautiful villages in France.
