Remarkable Historical Heritage
A walk through the village of Carnoules and its surroundings allows you to discover a local heritage of great quality.
Religious buildings reflect the devotion of the people of Carnoules: the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, built in the 19th century, houses a 17th-century bell, and several chapels are scattered throughout the commune (Chapelle Saint-Jean, Chapelle Saint-Michel, Chapelle Notre-Dame, Notre-Dame de la Vière).
The ruins of the castrum remind us of the village’s medieval origins, while the oil mill is a testament to the agricultural and olive-growing past of the region. Carnoules experienced growth with the development of the railway, and a steam locomotive 4B9 proudly stands in the village.
