The Golden Islands

Discover off the coast of the Massif des Maures the archipelago of the Golden Islands.

Port-Cros, once protected from ancient barbarian attacks by the Eminence Tower, the forts of Estissac and Port Man, has an exceptional biodiversity. Various birds nest there, such as the Luecophée gull, the booted eagle and the peregrine falcon.

The island of Porquerolles also conceals a truly exceptional biodiversity. Since 1971, the island has been home to the Mediterranean National Botanical Conservatory. The National Park covers the Golden Islands, but also an exceptional coastal fringe.

The island of Levant, the easternmost of the Golden Islands, is home to the reserve of arbutus trees. Still on the island of the Levant, Heliopolis is one of the oldest naturist villages in Europe. The Park also protects magnificent seabeds. vacationers can go boating, scuba diving or enjoy the beaches, always with respect for natural areas.

Museums Near La Croix-Valmer

You can easily plan a cultural getaway around La Croix-Valmer.

The small town of Saint-Tropez is home to several renowned museums:

  • The Gendarmerie Museum is located in the building that served as the filming location for the famous films featuring the actor Louis de Funès.
  • The Annonciade Museum displays paintings by some of the greatest artists from the Pointillist, Nabis, and Fauvist movements.
  • The Citadel of Saint-Tropez houses the Maritime History Museum of Saint-Tropez, which was the third-largest French port on the Mediterranean Sea in the 18th century.
  • The House of Butterflies – Dany Lartigue Museum presents a collection of several tens of thousands of butterflies.

You can also visit the old village of Grimaud, with its old houses, medieval castle, and the Fairy Bridge (Pont des Fées).
