Le Beausset, a small Provençal town nestled in a valley at the foot of Sainte-Baume, enjoys an exceptional geographical location near seaside resorts and tourist villages.

The historic center boasts a stunning rural heritage. The Notre-Dame de l’Assomption de la Vierge Church, built in the 19th century, features a beautiful square bell tower topped with a wrought-iron campanile from the early 20th century. A stroll through the streets of Le Beausset reveals the facade and old door of the House of Marie Claire Dol, the Maison des Têtes dating back to the 14th century, the Saint-Louis Oratory, the Isnard Well which once served as a water source for residents, and the Place Jean Jaurès with its mossy fountain.

To the south of the Sainte-Baume Regional Natural Park, Le Beausset is set in a magnificent natural environment, surrounded by hills covered with pine forests. Numerous trails welcome hiking and cycling enthusiasts of all levels. Depending on your preferences, you can also try other activities near Le Beausset: horseback riding, golf, climbing, tree climbing, or even paragliding.

Motorsport enthusiasts will undoubtedly know the Paul Ricard Circuit, located just a few kilometers from Le Beausset. This circuit hosts the annual Bol d’Or, one of the most prestigious motorcycle endurance races.

Le Beausset is at the heart of an exceptional terroir, in a vineyard renowned for the quality of its wines. You can visit local producers directly or discover Provençal gastronomic specialties. Three weekly markets are held in Le Beausset, showcasing the region’s crafts and local products.

The Sainte-Baume National Park

Straddling the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Var, the Sainte-Baume massif reaches an altitude of more than 1150 meters, at the signal of the Béguines. Hiking and cycling enthusiasts will be able to discover different itineraries of all levels within the massif. The fauna and flora are remarkable, with numerous species of birds such as the spotted woodpecker, the Tengmalm’s owl, the grey flycatcher, Bonelli’s eagle, the Jean-le-blanc circaète, the little scops owl, the blue rock mound, the proyer bunting… Spirituality contributes to the contemporary influence of the Sainte-Baume. Its territory preserves various testimonies of it.

The Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine of Saint-Maximin and the Grotto of Sainte-Baume house the relics of Mary Magdalene, disciple of Christ. The Basilica of Saint-Maximin is the largest Gothic building in Provence. This religious building protects part of the relics of Mary Magdalene. At the bend in the road, you may come across cylindrical constructions that are partly buried. These coolers used to produce ice for the inhabitants of Marseille, Aix-en-Provence or Toulon.

Museums Near Le Beausset

La Maison des Arts, housed in a 16th-century building, offers an interesting cultural program throughout the year.
The Ecomuseum of the 4 Frères, located between Signes and Le Beausset, features exhibitions, conferences, performances, storytelling, guided walks, treasure hunts, and self-guided trails to explore Provençal natural spaces.

The city of Toulon, about a 30-minute drive from Le Beausset, is also home to many museums. You can visit the Musée d’Art de Toulon, the National Museum of the Navy, the Museum of Asian Arts, the Memorial of the Landing and Liberation, the House of Photography, and more.
